The 2015, President’s Independence Award Winners have paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Education, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, in her office in Accra.

The twenty students, two from each region were selected based on their excellent performances in the recent BECE. They will later receive special awards from the President of the Republic, John Mahama, ahead of this year’s Independence Day Celebrations.

Addressing the students, the Minister, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, urged them to always acknowledge the vital roles played by their individual mentors such as teachers and parents as well as other major stakeholders.

She advised them to always share every good thing that comes their way. She also cautioned them against the practice of negative influence from their peers.

She said as part of the Secondary Education Improvement Project (SEIP) a number of Senior High Schools will benefit from quality improvement and infrastructure upgrading throughout the country to solve limited access and quality challenges.

She asked the award winners to study hard in order to realise their dreams.

Also present at the meeting were the Deputy Ministers, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and Hon Alex Kyeremeh as well as the Chief Director, Mr. Enoch Cobbinah.
