Minister/Deputy Complete 3-Day Tour of Northern and Upper East Regions

The Minister for Education, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, and her deputy in charge of Pre-tertiary, Hon. Alex Kyeremeh, have completed a three-day tour of the Northern and Upper East Regions with a call on all stakeholders in education in the regions to contribute their quota effectively towards quality education.

The tour was designed to monitor the progress of work on the new Senior High Schools in some districts, advance the distribution of additional 1,000 computers to teachers under the Basic School Teachers Laptop Project, visit Complementary Basic Education Centres, perform the official launch of textbooks for the Complementary Basic Education as well as visit to the WAEC Centre in Tamale and Bolgatanga to encourage the candidates for the maiden private BECE. While in Tamale, the Minister, who was accompanied by the Deputy, Hon. Alex Kyeremeh and some officials from the Ministry, paid a courtesy call on the Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Limuna Muniru in his office.

Addressing some teachers at Tamale College of Education, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, noted that Ghana has always invested a lot in education, even beyond the UNESCO benchmark, hence the need for the investment to yield the desired result. She maintained, Ghana has a very good education system and I stand by it.
