MoE presents school supplies, announces standardised fees


The Minister for Education, Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has presented school supplies to Regional Directors of Education for onward submission to public basic schools ahead of the 2016/17 academic year, which begins this month.

The school supplies include 350,000 Attendance Registers for teachers, 230,000 Teacher’s Note Books, 2,400,000 White Chalks, 209,415 School Uniforms, 40,000 School Sandals and 2,549,647 Dictionaries.

Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang was hopeful that with the supplies, the academic year would run a smoothly without any disruptions or complaints of shortages.

The Minister said the Progressively Free (PF) SHS programme had taken care of more items on the bill of students and her Ministry was ready to welcome 120,000 boarders with the expansion of the programme.

She announced new fees for continuing day students as GH40.00; continuing boarders as GHC 487.20; first year day students as GHC460.00, and first year boarding students as GHC922.00 for the 2016/17 academic.

Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang urged all heads of schools to note for strict compliance.
