USAID Education Office Director bids MoE farewell


The Education Office Director of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Ms. Sarah Banashek, has called on the Minister for Education, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, to bid her farewell after her duty tour in Ghana.

She was thankful to the Minister, Chief Director, Directors and other officials of the Ministry for the partnership and cooperation in the provision of infrastructure especially at the pre-tertiary level.

The out-going Education Office Director expressed her happiness in working in Ghana, noting the changes that have taken place since her arrival in 2012.

She observed that from the USAID perspective, there have been a dramatic improvement in teacher absenteeism due to regular and unannounced visits to schools by the Hon. Minister.

The Hon. Minister thanked Ms. Banashek for the hard work and contribution to the growth of the sector and wish her well in her next endeavour.

The Chief Director, Mr. Enoch H. Cobbinah, commended Ms. Banashek for all the sacrifices she made for the sector.

The USAID presented some documents that provides clarity on issues relating to their work with the Ministry.

The Minister also presented her with a farewell gift in appreciation of her work while on duty in Ghana.

Present at the brief ceremony were Mr. Benjamin Afful and Mrs Dora Darkwa Mensah, Directors of Finance and Administration and Human Resources, Dr. Amoako, Director, Funds Project and Monitoring Unit and other officials of the ministry.
